                                                       Abstract

According to the study on Suematsu Yasukazu’s recognition of Korean-Japanese ancient
history through the text interpretation of ‘The Rise And Fall of Mimana’, shed light on his

academic history of the ancient Korea and his career as an staff of the colonial Japanese
authorities and analyze the impact of this recognition on his academic life as a ‘colonial
                 historian’.

The entire ‘The Rise And Fall of Mimana’ is divided into 8 parts (1.the origin of Mimana
2.the forming of Mimana 3.the prosperity of Mimana 4.the decline of Mimana 5.the fall of

Mimana 6.conclusion of the Mimana issue 7. Kara countries and their cultures 8.Mimana
issue) and ancient Japanese culture), summarize his perception of the characteristics and
important historical facts of each part. Through this the logic of his Japanese supremacy

based on the Nihonshoki is analyzed In conclusion, critisize the logic of dominating the
southern part of the Korean Peninsula by ancient Japan.
