삼신 신관의 동양철학적 해석 사이먼 킴

                                                       Abstract

The concept of God is markedly different from the East and the West from their roots.
Often, God is translated as Shin (神), but this does not fully preserve the connotation and

denotation contained in the concept of Shin of the East and God of the West. The author was
able to discover the existence of Taeil Shin (太一神), which is quite different from the Western
God, through the study on the analysis of conception of God and the comparative philosophy

of East and West, and the original texts of Eastern philosophy.
After surveying several texts in the Eastern philosophy that derived the concept of Taeil, I

tried to persuade the concept of Shin, that is Ilshin (一神) - Samsin (三神) - Taeilshin based on
the contents of Cheonbugyeong and Samilshingo. While main concepts of Cheon (天)and Il
(一) were emphasized in Cheonbugyeong, Samil Shingo interprets human beings and the

world from the point of view of Shin. This paper aims to explore the link between the concept
of Il of Cheonbu-gyeong and the concept of Shin in the Samil Shingo.

According to the books of Sagi Bongseonseo (封禪書) and Sogil(簫吉)’s ‘the Meaning of
Five Elements (五行大義)’, it was found that the existence of Taeilshin was proved by using the
North Star as the basis. Through this study, I would like to emphasize that the concept of

Taeilshin Sangje should not be used as a translation of the concept of Western theology. This
is because, compared to the Western view of the absolute God that transcends nature, the East

Asian tradition relates to nature to the last, and has been defined together with the heavenly,
earthly and human beings who have a common basis of Qi world view.
While arranging the general concept of Shin/God, the Western concept of God, and the

concept of Shin in the Eastern philosophy, we have to think seriously about how to answer
these questions; what kind of god Taeilshin Sangje (太一神 上帝) is and what are the unique

Korean gods called three gods (三神)?

Key words: The view of God in the East and West. The concept of Il in Cheonbugyeong. The

concept of Samshin in Saminshingo. The Meaning of Wuxing. Taeilshin of the North Star.
