天符經의 三極思想 윤창열

                                                       Abstract

Mugeuk is the place where Taegeuk is created as the origin of harmony, the source of truth,
the origin of life, and the source of the Dao. However, Mugeuk is not just an empty place, but

is the source of the order that defines all the orders of Taegeuk. The reason why reality is
divided into Heaven, Earth and Man (Cheonjiin) is because the three gods of ultimate reality
are positioned as the god of Mugeuk; the reason why the real world performs the movement

of yin and yang is because Geongon exists in Mugeuk; and the reason why there is the five
elements in reality is that there are five gods, who preside over the five directions of the east,

south, middle, west, and north, and five spirits of divine beasts—giraffe, phoenix, turtle,
dragon, and white tiger. As a concept, Taegeuk is the ultimate principle for everything that
exists in the phenomenal world. Taegeuk automatically changes itself due to the Taegeuk

nature inherent in Mugeuk and goes through the stage of emptiness to reveal itself as water.
Hwanggeuk has the meaning of the son of Heaven and the standard law set up by him, but it

has since changed and has the concept of the center of the world, Great Center, and life
activities. The idea of the three poles contained in the Sanggyeong of Cheonbugyeong as
follows. Mugeuk creates First Taegeuk, which is water. This water creates the three poles of

Heaven, Earth and Man. In the three poles of Heaven, Earth and Man, the sky becomes
Mugeuk, the earth becomes Taegeuk, and Man becomes Hwanggeuk, realizing the ideal of

Heaven and Earth. The three poles exist even in the cycle of time. First Taegeuk creates Tenth
Mugeuk, with the help of Fifth Hwanggeuk, and Tenth Mugeuk, in turn, is unified into First
Taegeuk. This process makes Mugeuk, Taegeuk, and Hwanggeuk exist at every joint of time,

which become the source of power to circulate the universe. The idea of the three poles in
Junggyeong is as follows. Cheonjiin performs the yin-and-yang movement of Taegeuk and is

made up of three elements, where Geongon exists in Mugeuk, the three gods of ultimate
reality existing in Mugeuk is revealed to be Cheonjiin, and in turn each Cheonjiin exists in
Cheonjiin. When Cheonjiin is combined, the water of Taegeuk comes out, and the

Cheonjiin’s constants 1, 2, and 3 are added to the foundation to complete Cheonjiin. Each of
the four seasons consists of three months and cycles, and the driving forces of the circular

movement is Fifth and Seventh Hwanggeuk. The idea of the three poles described in
Hagyeong is as follows. The Taegeuk body, which combines mind and matter, constantly
repeats division and unification. When the Taegeuk movement of inherence ends its division

after dividing with the help of Fifth Hwanggeuk, it enters the world of Tenth Mugeuk, which
is the body practicing immovability. The root of human is the mind that resides in
