                                                       Abstract

Jolbon is Heulseunggolsung Fortress, which was founded by Dangun Haemosu in
Bukbuyeo, and Jolbonbuyeo (Dongmyung) built by Dangun Godumak. And Jolbon is

Holbon, which was first established as the capital by Goguryeo’s Dangun Gochumo. Jolbon
was the birth place of the three countries and a base for the larger world. All three Danguns
are from Kori (Goguryeo) and are related to Bukbuyeo. Thus, the name of Dongmyung and

the birth myth were shared, and the history was abbreviated, resulting in chaos in blood
                 relations.

There is no major disagreement that Jolbon is currently Onyeosansung Fortress in
Hwanin-hyeon, Bongye. In 『SamgukSagi』, Jolbon was called Uiju under Mt. Uimuryeo, and
in the Chosun Dynasty, Solbinbu was called Jolbon in accordance with 『SunggyeongTongji』.

The location of Jolbon is divided into several places according to the point of view of the
scholar. In 『Dongguk Yeojiseungram』 and 『GoryeoSa, The History of Goryeo』, it is written

as Sungju, and most scholars accepted it as it is.
At the end of the Chosun Dynasty, foreign scholars visited the area north of the Yalu River
and thought that Tonggu or Hwanin is Jolbon. Among them, Onyeosansung Fortress of

Hwanin was recognized as Jolbonsung Fortress with the support of scholars from Korea,
China and Japan. Afterwards, the minority opinion said that Balhae Solbinbu was Jolbon, but

the region claimed by the scholars differed. Recently, some scholars are paying attention to
                 Uiju of Mt. Uimuryeo.
Jolbon is closely related to Hansa-gun, especially Hyeondo and Goguryeo-hyeon. From the

point of view that Hansa-gun was in the Korean Peninsula or occupied the Yodong area, the
space where Jolbon could be located is limited. I hope that there will be great developments

in historical geography in the future.
