Gilgamesh asks the secret of the immortality from Utnapishtim. Utnapishtim describes
the story of the great storm.

At the time of the great storm, he built a ship at Enki’s command and placed a pair of each
animal in it. When the gods learned that he was alive, he and his wife were counted among

the gods and settled on the other side of the sea.
Utnapishtim then reveals the location of the plant of immortality to Gilgamesh, and
Gilgamesh finds it, but when he is busy washing himself, snake eats it and Gilgamesh re-

turns empty-handed to Uruk.
