The parallel studies on the mythological stories of Sumerian civilization
in relation with ancient Korean history in the holy book of Hwandangogi Mahdi Hajikhani

The story of the great flood [Figure 9] is like the story of Noah’s ark in the Genesis of the
Old Testament. The folktale of the great flood recurs in the records of several peoples who
rose in Mesopotamia from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE.

The fact that the Enuma Elish and the Epic of Gilgamesh were scribed into a number of
different languages and read widely supports that the Sumerian civilization was the origin of

Chaldeans [Figure 10], and the Babylonians. As the Greek and Roman literatures are con-
tinuously translated into the languages of the world as the classics of humanity, Sumerian

literature was widely spread across time and region as the classic of Mesopotamia.
Especially, the Enuma Elish influenced the Genesis of the Jewish creation story throughout

the periods of Assyria and Babylonia.
